I have found Skip at https://www.mkctools.com/mark%20v%20parts.htm to be very responsive and delivered a very quality quill...

Now, do you really believe April?

At least 5 times, after being on hold listening to "We are experiencing high call volumes."

I was told numerous times that my "belt sander parts would ship by the end of the week." My parts were FINALLY shipped yesterday(3/27/18) according to their website, after a final terse conversation with them. There have been so many excuses over the last 5 weeks that I can't list them all. Some were,"the prior parts order person didn't,order anything", "Everything is Hand Made here," "Our suppliers haven't shipped the parts needed."

I severely pains me to see any American company, especially one that has produced a classic American made tool(which I have owned new and updated (since 1981)NOT providing top notch, responsive customer technical and product support. My BIL, a Shop Smith owner prior to me has cancelled at least one order for prolonged delays. This is a wake up call to them!

I'm sure other $$ owners don't want don't want a Chinese made HF or Grizzlers knock off.

$$ management needs to step up, and be honest with owners!

I am not sure '$$ management' is down in the trenches to really understand what has been happening recently. I do hope I am wrong or that that changes quickly.

It all kind of makes me glad I bought all of those used Shopsmiths on that retirement prep binge a number of years ago...
If I had one SS and it was the primary tool in my shop (and I didn't have about 20parts units stored back :) ) and my machine was down I would probably be hitting craigslists for a parts machine or a working machine to serve until parts came in.
If you bought one for parts you could likely save a complete set of parts that might quit and sell the parts not prone to fail (like legs, tubes, unwanted spt's etc.) for enough to pay all of the cost.
