The picture is a front floating/extension table rail without provisions for the rip scale. The tables did not change when the 520 rail system came out. The rails bolt in place at the same locations the 510 rails did. The main table has 3 screws and the floating/extension tables have 2 screws.JPG wrote:thunderbirdbat wrote:The 520 front rail appears to be for the main table without the rip scale upgrade.
That makes sense. The pix looked much shorter due to the view angle. I am not familiar with the number of screws attaching a main table 520 rail. I always assumed three.
The part number may very well be for a main table rail but the picture is a floating/extension table rail.thunderbirdbat wrote:I was looking at the original price of $63.43. The front rail for the extension tables cost $37/38 a piece so it is not that. I have the 520 without the rip scale and have looked at the upgrade so recognized the differences.JPG wrote:thunderbirdbat wrote:The 520 front rail appears to be for the main table without the rip scale upgrade.

Dusty is correct. The part number is from the first iteration of the 520 rails. At some time after the 520 was introduced they modified the front rails to allow for the addition of a magnetically attached ruler. Presumably the newer rail is the only one they ship today hence the statement "Is no longer used on the MK V rails".JPG wrote:518488 does not match any of the current ext table rails nor current main table rails, so maybe it is an earlier version as mentioned(so what was it for?).
Yes, the front is different from the back. Just remember the picture is an extension table rail but the part number on sale is the main table front rail I believe.cmn135 wrote:Is the front rail assembly different from rear? I recently bought another used shopsmith because it had the 520 fence system. However....it only had the main table and no extension tables.
I do have a full 510 setup and would love to upgrade the extension tables to the 520 rails. I assume these sale items would be front only and i would need to buy 3 rear rails full price? Thanks.
