I think NOT! SS Inc. went into bankruptcy and emerged as RLF(IIUC).

No way it was a Mark V in 1955.

I am surprised that YUBA was relevant in 1955.

I am also curious what lathe 'stuff' was acquired in 1957 that did not come with a Mark 5 in 1955. I will go back and read the legal stuff Algale linked to. I also did not think it had a two year delay between purchase an injury.

AIRI, the way tube set screws were 'loose' coming from the manufacturer. "Expert" witnesses claimed that the design(tubes held in by single set screws) was deficient and did not match the claim(that rigid stuff) in the manual on page 5.

The footnote is at the bottom of the case which I linked to. Anyway, here is what it says:

"FN 1. In this respect the trial court limited the jury to a consideration of two statements in the manufacturer's brochure. (1) "When Shopsmith Is in Horizontal Position--Rugged construction of frame provides rigid support from end to end. Heavy centerless-ground steel tubing insures perfect alignment of components." (2) "Shopsmith maintains its accuracy because every component has positive locks that hold adjustments through rough or precision work."

Mark 5 or 10ER - makes very little difference.

My question related to Shopsmith becoming RLF.

Mid year 2009 as I recall.

As I understand the overall situation, it has been PowerPro sales that pulled Shopsmith out of trouble.
