Chuck,

The drawers slide on hardwood runners. It was cheaper for me than buying slides. I don't believe the cabinet makes it much harder to roll the SS around. I've been doing it for so long now that I forget what it was like before I added the extra weight.

I can't take credit for the cross bars, it was part of the original design from Hands On May/Jun 82 (article attached). I have also attached my revision to the original design if anyone is interested. I hope I'm not violating any copyright laws.

I like your under storage unit. I toyed with something similar and realized with my limited ability to reach and work with items near the floor I was be3st with a vertical cabinet. Even with the increased dimensions of my version I was afraid it may be top heavy. I was releved when it moved around well without being tipsy. I can't wait for vacation to be over so I can begin using it. For now I need to be satisfyed with workin on my daughters home. Man how I miss my shopsmith and accesories. Tomorrow we fly to Ketchikan for a week of samon fishing. Then it's back to the real world. Fjimp

Wow Joe! That's nice! And it looks like it will move with the SS whe it's on wheels or is it too much weight?

Seems to work for me.

Works for me too, but it did take a while to load!

As I replied in a different post, when I made mine, I modifided the the cross bar over the tubes to be a upside down "U" shaped piece. Roll the SS over the cabinet, lower the SS and fasten on the bars over the tubes, raise both SS and cabinet.
