You can always feed the wood in the opposite direction if needed, so direction of the motor and router bit isn't important.

Depends upon the version of the shaper fence. The older version only had one side 'micro adjustable', but, the micro adjuster stuff can be moved.

Also the fence can be mounted either inside or outside of the cutter.

Only thing NOT reversible/adaptable is the motor direction and the cutters themselves.

With router bits I agree but if using the shaper adapter and cutters, they are reversible. Just thinking out of the box for an additional shaper option as opposed to overhead.

Pretty sure. The way the shaper cutters are designed they can easily be installed backwards by flipping their orientation, by mistake or on purpose. The few times I used the shaper I had to pay particular attention to the direction the arbor would turn in relation to the cutters.
To me it didn't feel like the safest option and I have a router table anyway. Getting those spinning cutters away from my face and under the table may not be any safer but at least you aren't staring at them wondering what would happen if one flew off. Of course if it flew off from down there you would have an even different reason to worry.

Have you considered a Speed Increaser? Not only does it give you under table Routing and Shaping but also speeds up to 10,000 RPMs.

I've been gone for a long while so a lot has happened that I am unaware of but pray tell why I might want speeds up to 10000 RPM.

I have thought about it but right now my play money is tied up in other projects. I have tried finding one (and the speed reducer) on the used markets but they appear to be quite rare and people tend to hold onto them.
The shaper actually does a pretty nice job. I suppose the three cutting heads as opposed to two with the router help make up for the loss of speed between the two.
You don't have a cheap, used speed increaser laying around that you need to get rid of, do you?

The question was under the table routing ?, not sure I understand why you need the shaper fence for routing ? the lock nut on the shaper arbor set up must spin correctly or it will be a huge safety issue ,,it will back off no mater how the cutter is installed .
