Hi hoagie,
I've been using the wire shelf for quite a while now and I'm happy with it. It's true the shelf doesn't collect sawdust; however, the things you place on the shelf do.
It's not a significant problem but don't think this addition will completely solve your sawdust problem - it won't.

Do you have a map (a layout diagram) that details what each hole in the accessory shelf is for. Some are obvious but others ......?
I want to try to make one of these for myself.

A picture of the old (510) accessory shelf with the 520 fence holder on it with the new accessory holder below it, I put the fence holder on the new shelf because it holds the fence better. [ATTACH]2523[/ATTACH]

There's a hole that does not seem to be used in with any model that I have put to use, and I've made a small modification that helps me out.
I use the hole to store a crevice tool to use with the DC3300. I also drilled several small holes to hold the Allen wrenches that some of the SPTs require.
The picture is from the manual.
