Table pizza stand.

If you flip it over, it could be a coaster for a large beer mug.

I think I will let the Watco dry for a few days and then use glow juice on it to give a high gloss finish. The piece I used for the top turned out to be better than I anticipated. The grain pattern is exceptional. Poplar can be very different from one load to another. Sometimes it is very plain or green and other times it will be amazing. There is a piece in this batch that has a wave form grain pattern that is very unusual. I set it aside for something special. It’s not very big, probably 7”X 10’.

This one is finished. The glass arrived yesterday. I am calling it a pie server. My neighbors hold a large Thanksgiving dinner for about 15 people who are all single people with no family and my wife is baking pies for the event which will be delivered tomorrow. I will make it a present along with one of the pies.

Nice! I like the idea of having the glass top which will protect the wood and finish from the hot pies sitting on top. Did you do anything special to affix the glass on top so that it won't slide off, or is there enough friction to hold it in place?

No it’s plenty heavy enough. I wanted to leave it detachable for washing. So I intended this as a present for my neighbors and instead my wife snagged it. This is from the spouse who said “no more turnings in the house” !!!??? Now I have to make another one. It came out better than I expected. Due to finding a cheap glass source several friends may get one this year.

Too funny. As long as she is happy.

The glass looks thick enough, that the weight alone is probably more than sufficient to keep it in place provided the wood isn't super slick on top.
