Think I'd drill more holes, stick in more dowels, and call it artistic. Years ago when I was making my first real woodworking project, a fire-engine bed for my boy (guess it was about 38 years ago) I received the help of a master craftsman. I've always referred to him as Grandpa Vic. With careful planning, we measured twice, then cut once, slicing off the wrong side. First project, and first of many mistakes.
