Re: Scroll Saw - Blade Change Upgrade

Post by Steele510 »

While I wait for the blade holders to arrive I thought I would see if I could improve the dust collection. Modified a shop vac crevice nozzle to move the suction cavity directly beneath the access cover, yet still providing ample room to install blades. I may have compromised a bit on my ability to tilt the table to the extremes but I don't see myself using the saw at an angle anyways.

Huge improvement in suction at the blade area, no noticeable change in the pitch of the vacuum motor (the foam tape covering the end of the nozzle was temporary until I tested to see if the vacuum was straining at all under suction). Slight increase in wind noise around the blade area.

Only modification I may consider is to add some brush hair across the opening where the lower blade holder passes through to improve the dust collection even more. We’ll see.

Works great, much better than the big 4” gap it had before.
