I found a Mark V guard on ebay, being sold for parts. The main part of the guard is there but the right side, that’s a piece of thick sheet metal is missing. There’s also the main top guard and most of the mounting bracket. They want $25 for it, but I have to immediately make the sheet metal part for it to be functional. Should I keep looking or can I adapt the newer guard to my machine?
Tried to post a pic, but not sure how.

1. If this is the guard you are considering, be aware the upper guard is missing the heavy metal wire loop at the front, making it unusable.

2. For the missing right side cover, why not just re-use your existing right side cover?

3. For help in posting pictures, see the thread near the top of the list under the Community Forum. Usually the picture just needs to be reduced in size (pixel count and/or file size)

4. A newer 500 guard will work, and besides drilling and tapping a couple of holes, no "modification" should be required.

5. The newer 500 guards are reported to have better dust collection results, due to the spring loaded feature enabling a tighter fit to underside of table.

6. I'm still 99.9% sure that saw guards for the larger table machines (505/510/520/7) will not fit a 500, but someone with both types of machines should be able to verify.

7. When searching ebay, it is sometimes useful to do an advanced search for SOLD listings, so you can get a better idea of what items typically actually sell for. For example: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... 1&_fosrp=1

Can I use this saw guard with a 1955 Greenie?

The one pictured, yes. Be aware that only those specifically made for a Mark 5 will work on a greenie without modification. Newer versions require modification of the greenie.
