Finished cutting it up, using the rip fence method. Then using horizontal boring, I drilled the pilot holes in both matching pieces.
Here's the girls with the finished project.

Looks great. I have the same requirement for my granddaughter but she has not decided what to make yet. I am a little concerned about about letting her near standard power tools so I am hoping to convince her to do a build that can be completed with the Shaper Origin, some sand paper and maybe paint. That way she can fully participate without me worrying too much about her fingers.
