To remove the floating sheave, you have to first compress the spring to remove the clip, holding the spring. This is where you get a board and drill a hole in it hat will fit over the clip, but smaller than the washer. Then - (best with two people) each person pushes on the board while compressing the spring. Hold it like that while removing the clip - then slowly release pressure on the board to allow the spring to expand. Now you can remove spring and sheave.
I didn't have a second person, so made a hole in a board long enough to hook onto a firm cabinet open opening. (open door) Then pushed the other end of the board with my left leg until the spring was compressed. This left both hands free to remove the clip.
