Installed 520 upgrade...tips?

OKAY, what is good for one is not necessarily good for another.

Now the DVD. Is it supplied as part of the upgrade kit OR ....

We had a rifle club that I belonged to and actually had a 22cal competition shooting range in the basement of the high school. All the schools in the area had the same thing and we shot in competition. Oh my, this would/IS be totally banned today.

Oh how times have changed for the worse.

Yes, times have changed. People have changed. Like you, my town had a rifle club. In the Winter we used the school gym as a target range. It was much nicer than trying to do it out in the snow.

In my junior year in high school, we put on a class play. It was a hillbilly play (definitely not politically correct for today), but back then, it was funny. Of course, hillbillys had guns, so we brought in real guns to the school and used them for props. In those days, nobody thought anything about that.

During hunting season, it was common to drive your Dad's pickup to school, and your hunting guns hung in the gun rack in the rear window when you parked it in the school parking lot.

We had guns, but we had no drugs and no cellphones so the guns were no problem. They were just another tool to do another job.

Times have changes, but we have changed too. We got old. But, like one friend told me a while back. We got all the "good" music.

Today I began setting up the fence on the new 520 upgrade. Sadly, one of the screws that hold the alignment tube in the front rail pulled the threaded insert from the rail. i contacted customer service and they suggested I contact engineering. I don't think this should be a problem since this was a first use failure. Attached is a photo of the screw after it pulled out of the rail. Anyone else have this problem and is there an easy fix?

Speaking of deer hunting. I went to high school in Pennsylvania. Deer hunting is almost a way of life there. I don't know if they still do it but back in the 60's the schools were closed on opening day of deer season.

Are all the others straight like that one? Looks like a pop rivit to me that has not yet been popped.

If not the hole is likely oversized.

Regardless, CS should take the lead here.

Howdy,

It is a threaded sleeve that was pressed into a hole in the rail. It simply pulled out. I suspect it was installed with some rivet tool.

I agree with JPG, it looks like a rivet nut. Probably was stuck in the hole and then never clinched. Here’s an example of a system like that at Northern Tool.

I would check them all before calling engineering. I don't see a resolution other than replacing the bad rail(s). This is what it should look like, in case the others are the same:
