Height was done the same way as the lathe tool rest, it is mounted in the tool rest arm.

And the SS adjustable stop collar gives you precise height adjustment if that is necessary.

I keep looking at this and admiring how simple it is. Tell me about the tool holder. Looks like you used a faceplate and mounted some kind of tapered rod in it to fit in the tool rest arm. What did you find that fit both faceplate and tool rest arm?

The magic of shopsmith. The arbor that mounts the drill chuck, turns out it has the same outer diameter of the lathe arm and of course the 5/8" size for the face plate.

I'm embarrassed to say I don't understand what "the arbor that mounts the drill chuck" is. My drill chuck fits onto the main SS spindle.

OK, I have to ask Ed since I don't completely understand.
The arbor he is talking about is the tail stock chuck arbor. It has a 5/8" shaft for the chuck and a #2 Morse taper for the tail stock. It will fit the lathe face plate.
My question is how does the #2 Morse taper work in the lathe rest arm. It does not have a #2 Morse taper.

I have to check this, but IIRC the tool rest arm bore is 3/4". The tail stock adapter begins life as 3/4" round bar stock and the 5/8 chuck end and the tailstock #2 mt are machined from it. A 3/4 " shoulder remains.
