That is correct - old wedges in the old head and new wedges in the new head only. Blade are still the same profile going all the way back to the Model 4E Jointer. I have several sets of blades from the 50's to current.

I am curious about your 90's Jointer and which cutter head it has plus the date code. JPG and I both thought the change was later than the service parts listing says.
As I have said before upgrades and parts can be replaced with current parts on any previous Jointer going back to the 4E with the exception of the Dust Chute upgrade that cannot be added on the 4E. Some parts can be replace individually while others, like in this case with the Cutter Head Wedges, must be replaced as an assembly.

Mine is coded 080391. On closer inspection it has the new style wedges and cutter head. I forgot that a power station I bought a couple of months ago came with some extra SPTs, I actually have three Jointers. ) This third one is a Magna Model 505681 SN 83156. I don't see obvious differences compared to an old Model 620 but I've never used it or hooked it up. - David

If your Magna Model 505681 SN 83156 was made by Magna American Corporation it is from the 1960's after the part number change and would be very much like the Model 620-C. They were still considered a 620-C besides having the new 505681 part number.
One with serial number SS 83156 made by Shopsmith Inc. would be from December 1984 and be model number 505681-B. It is an exapmle of the serial numbers being restarted when Shopsmith inc. formed and began production again. Most but not all Shopsmith Inc. serial numbers started with the prefix SS.
If your Magna Model 505681 SN 83156 was made by Magna American Corporation it is from the 1960's after the part number change and would be very much like the Model 620-C. They were still considered a 620-C besides having the new 505681 part number.
One with serial number SS 83156 made by Shopsmith Inc. would be from December 1984 and be model number 505681-B. It is an exapmle of the serial numbers being restarted when Shopsmith inc. formed and began production again. Most but not all Shopsmith Inc. serial numbers started with the prefix SS.

Yes, it's this one. It's kind of a dull iron gray color, doesn't really match the SS gray that I've seen. I noticed the handle for the dual-purpose fence adjustments is much shorter than my Greenie version, but similar to the 90's. Probably an improvement intended to reduce quadrant failures.(?) (Yes, I have done that.
