I live on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. I work in a small boat manufacturing and restoring shop. I had a new shop built in my yard this past summer but still don't have it hooked up with electric; most of the shop is wired, but the main line isn't run out there yet. I need to get an electrician over here to do it as I don't trust my own "sparky" abilities!
I have a 1960 MK. V "Brownie", a jig saw (needs restoration), belt sander(needs repair), band saw, flexible shaft, jointer and pro-planer, all bought for under 1000 dollars. I just bought a DC3000 dust collector on ebay and am waiting for it to arrive. I restored my old MK. V and it was very satisfying. I had an old Dewalt RAS, but I got rid of it. I am married and have one daughter in grade school. I enjoy waterfowl hunting, fly fishing, camping and boating. I am a Christian and belong to a reformed Presbyterian church. I would be delighted to hear from other New England Shopsmith fans! Alec

Who I am and what do I do with the SS

OK, not sure how many posts I have, but I have been reading the forum for quite a while. Never had much to add and just enjoyed reading about what everyone else was up to.

I am from California and have the following SS equipment:
SS 520
Bandsaw
Planer
Jointer
Belt Sander
I've owned a SS for almost 10 years now. I use it at least once a month for one thing or another. I build cabinets, book cases, desks, display cases and entertainment centers.

It has always been a fantastic tool. The little quirks it has are easy to compensate for, and any tool I use is the same way. I never miss a chance to show people everything it can do. Most of them are under a mistaken impression it isn't a real tool. That is until I show them the 16 foot long computer desk I built, or the large entertainment centers I make. I use the bandsaw to routinely resaw 10 foot by 2 inch thick oak planks to make baseboard and trim.

Even though I rarely post, I'm here with you guys just the same. So, I'll fade into the background and lurk through the forums until I find another reason to post.

Have fun!
Dan

Please update your profile to add your location, because we might forget about this post you made here.

Good idea! OK, updated my information. Now I'll have four posts ... :D

Guess I'll have to add a few links to the projects I work on using the SS.

Great idea. Updated my information. Great site,I have done a lot of reading here.
Not very good at posting, but will work on that. Not worked much in the last 10 years, so have had a lot of time for woodworking. I spent the last 5 months
repairing my home from a flood, finished now and ready to get back into my shop. woodking51.
