The two cabinets you see in this photo are each hung with 2 boards mitered edges like Ed showed us. The boards are each 3/4" by 2" and almost as long as the cabinet is wide. The backs of the cabinets are 1/4" peg board, mounted into grooves on all 4 sides. The top of the cabinet cleat is flush with the top of the cabinets.

The smaller of these cabinets have been moved from Texas to Calif. then again in CA. The neat thing is I hung a sign on the cabinet telling the home buyers the cabinet did not stay. It is not really attached to the wall other than resting in it's cleat.

Second photo is the inside of the smaller cabinet.

Just re-found my shopping list with the Woodsmith Magazine (snack tray idea)... and no I never got the issue. Does anyone know if this is still the current one that might be on the shelf in the store?

Also found a bunch of other stuff I forgot to get but it is all hardware items that will still be there.

Chuck are these still on your list of things to build?

Mill's Fleet Farm in Germantown, WI still had them on the shelf when I was there last night.

Great! That means I might still have time to get one!!

I'm from WI and when I moved to IL I had to get use to Farm and Fleet after always going to the Fleet and Farm store... I use to get the strangest looks from people at work when I'd say that.... Now I can speak both IL an WI.

Yes it is! - The cabinet is now assembled with the top and base. Tomorrow I start on the aprons and feet. Using red oak and oak plywood. Used a solid oak top rather than ply.

This project took priority (Mrs. charlese wants it). When I found I "needed" a Strip Sander for Christmas (for the grill project) this project easily slipped into 1st place.

So we should have pictures before long? Are you following the plans or are you chuckizing it... well other then the top that you already mentioned?

Pretty well following the plans. But as is true with most plans, they need a little fitting. For example, after sawing out the plywood sides, dados and the hardwood web frames to specs - and assembling, I found the width of the carcase was not 16 1/8" as said. Although this is the mathematical sum of the parts, plywood was calculated as 3/4". It's, of course a bit thinner.

The actual width of my unit is 16 1/64" as close as I can measure. Anyway I cut the base to fit the case, not the measurements.

I cut the top a bit over sized so if there was a happenstance, I could adjust. (Good thing - after routing the edges, I dropped it on the concrete floor. Was able to slice a sixteenth inch off of one side and re-rout it. Also about 1/8" more overhang will look good I think. If not, I'll make a bit wider molding beneath it.

The first photo is of the front, the second the side (shows the #8 x 1 1/2" screws screwed into the 1.2" top cleats) (The cleats are also glued to the top web/drawer frame) The 3rd shows the table top clips I chose to use to secure the top to the cleats.

LOOKS good!!! Are those retractable bench top extenders in pix 1,2? NEAT!

It looks deeper then what I was guessing from the squint images on the web... How deep is it, as in front to back?
