Thanks DLB for the response. Your issue stems from the pinned design, as does mine.

I don't have any rotational or axial slop, what I have is the spline axis and the shaft axis are not co-axial. Which may be my fault or Shopsmith's, because I don't recall ever overloading the drill press. I have always had excess vibration in my machine and this may be the source. I will live with it because I am too chicken to try fixing it myself and am not going to pay SS $200 for a whole new spindle when all I need is that spline/bearing shaft.

I do not have a spare drill press or a holding setup to properly (accurately) hold those shafts coaxially while line-reboring out the pin bore and re-pinning, although that probably would fix it.

Pinning two shafts together and expecting them to stay coaxial is asking for problems but I understand why (cheap) SS did it that way...

As for the control sheave problem, the order to SS is in. Now all I need is for SS to tell me it's a 6-month lead time...
