Yes and truth be known, I was thinking of a coping saw (sorta).

You were thinking of a "frame saw". I think.

OK Educate me! Bow saw, Frame saw, - what makes one different from the other?

Frame saw
Pretty good type of rip saw I suppose. Bow saws are pretty common. I have my dad's bow saw somewhere, pretty sure there's no way to rotate the blade but I guess I'll have to find it and check.
