Watching a YouTuber redoing his roof bought osb for $37 a sheet which is terrible when you consider they once sold it for $10. In any case he needed a few more sheets, price $50 a sheet.

He didn't go into a lot of detail but mentioned the dimensioned lumber prices went up just as bad.

Daughter is building a house the home builder is charging her about 2 to 2 1/2 times what I would have built the house for in 2004. After she signed he showed her his new prices they went up an addition 30%.

Materials is pricing wood workers out, especially when completion in against foreign wood workers that buy their raw material at less than 25% of what we have to pay in the US.

In November I bought a 4x8' sheet of 3/4" walnut plywood. It cost me $200. All I can say is that was the most expensive sheet of plywood I've ever bought. But, I agreed to buy it so I can't complain.
But, then I found 85 bd ft of rough sawn walnut boards for $6.50 a bd ft, so maybe that evens out.

So,
Plywood = $6.25 a bd ft
Hardwood = $6.50 a bd ft

A friend of ours built a house last year , when they originally figured the price it was 48k less than he paid when they actually got started breaking ground . I seen a video a while back where lumber was stacked up in yards in Canada that was not being shipped , not sure what is going on there now , I have seen multiple woods near here being logged out , folks are now buying raw trees , sending them to the mill and the kilns , even with the added expenses its cheaper than they can buy at the big box , a lot of Oak and Hickory and poplar are being harvested and used instead of Pine . I never thought I would see Oak and Hickory cheaper than pine . I have seen walnut boards selling over 10.00 a bd ft . and oak .75 a bd ft if you buy the tree , harvest it, and mill it . there seems to be a lot of portable mills are out there now .
