I received an answer from the email I sent, regarding miterbar for the SS in Incra Build it Kits.

The 18” Miter Slider that’s used in the Build-It system is also used to retain the drop panel on the Miter Express and Miter5000 sleds, so that item is available to fit the Shopsmith miter slots. They’re available for $17.95, or I may be able to substitute one for the standard size in the Build-It Starter Kit. You can reach me at 888.804.6272 to place an order

So, it looks like order by phone and ask for the SS miterbar substitute.

So it looks like ordering from them makes since, since you will get the bar you want that way rather then ordering the kit then having to pay for another bar.

Thanks for contacting them.

UPS delivered my Incra Build It System today. I ordered it from Amazon.

The miter bar include is a wee bit wider than the Shopsmith slot as the specs indicate. I feel that a light sanding along one edge will allow it to fit. Will keep you posted on my success or failure. Since I updated my 500 to a 520, I do have a spare miter bar and intend to use it also.

Since the Incra System Kit is $88.43 at Amazon (with free shipping), it would appear that buying it there would allow the purchase of a $17.95 Shopsmith miter bar at Incra (if needed) and still leave some $ left over.

It is always hard to say where the best deal is. The original post was in reference to an email off sent out and the List Price of $119 was reduced to $99.99 as members of the eclub, and was a 4 day sale if I recall correctly. I also get offers from several other places that sell Incra equipment including Incra... So you need to price it at the time you buy it.

Amazon's price go up and down a LOT so what you paid might have been on at a good point. How often is at that price? Everyday? I can't say for that item but their other items fluctuate.

A case in point, when I got my drum sander I didn't get the additional in and out feed tables. When I did decide to purchase them I found the best price was at Amazon at $56. With the way my budget works I had to wait until the next month... When I went back the price was $107. I figured they and messed up and emailed them after all this is just some folded sheet metal and a few fasteners. They sent this total meaning less email form letter back. I checked back a few days later the price was $96. This went on up down up down and then the prices were starting to get lower and lower. It finale got to $53 after about 10 months of this. So I ordered it. If you have the time to watch and wait prices come and go but I've found you can never assume a price you find will stay that way for long. Today while writing this I went and checked and found it at $63.

When I tried to find the build it system at amazon the only one I could find was one being sold by rockler at $140 plus $16 postage...

As always it is shoppers beware.

FWIW,
Amazon has 4 of the Incra Build-It System Kits in currently in stock at $89.61
( http://www.amazon.com/INCRA-Build-It-System-Starter-Kit/) with free shipping.
This is slightly over a dollar more than their price in January.
