Interesting video! My first thought re: dovetail vs box joint is something lots of people in the comments mentioned -- the way the dovetails were cut resulted in a lot less glue surface than the box joint (needed more tails & pins) and the pins were very small. If you're comparing that style of dovetail joint (as might be used in fine furniture) to a box joint then fine. But if you're comparing dovetail joints generically with box joints, make the dovetail joint as robust as the box joint. That way you'd get an idea of comparative strength, other things equal. In doing it the way he did it, he didn't control for "other things". But the same could be said for some of the other joints. How many splines? How many pocket screws? How many dowels? It was fun to watch but there are a lot of knobs you could turn to change the outcomes....
