Geez!!!!! The control sheave shouldn't spin on it's shaft at all!! It only slides in and out along it's shaft. Are you missing the key? If so, Hopefully the new sheave will come with one. If the control sheave was spinning, there's your grinding sound. Check the keyway on the shaft for goughs and non straight sides.

I suggest you review post #6 with special attention to 5).....!:rolleyes: The key IS a separate part# and NOT included with the control sheave.

Goughs is plural for gough. I had to ask Nick the same question. A gough is a scratch/chip/dent that leaves rolled up splinters of metal or whatever the material is. It is a gouge with sharp edges or lifted shards.
I'm not sure of the spelling.

I thought the word was "galls"? Like where a loose pulley doesn't turn, but the shaft it's on does.
