Thanks folks. Got the serial. It's a '56. No rust to speak of, no pitting, no corosion. The attachments are there but have not been used by the owner (he bought it for the bandsaw, but then found a grey one and liked it better). So what do you think? $350?

Assuming you have good reason to believe the Shopsmith operates:

The way I see it - the band saw and jointer are worth the $350. Therefore the Shopsmith is a freebe. I'd go for it.

I agree with Dusty! What did the previous owner do with 'the "grey" one?

The second grey one had all that, plus it was grey, which is why he bought it. So his first one was grey and without bandsaw.

So he had 3 (1 greenie,2 grey) and sold you the greenie with non-grey band saw/jointer? This scenario just keeps going and going and.......

No. Sorry. Grey SS 1 was without bandsaw. He bought green SS w/ bandsaw. Then found grey SS 2 also w/ bandsaw. Liked it better than green. Bought it. Now wants to sell green.

Do the motors on these "bog down" like I read somewhere?

Depends on your definition of 'bog'! They DO have a smaller motor(3/4HP vs 1 1/8HP). Only on very aggressive cutting would you consider it to bog down. They operate just fine if you use them less aggressively. They were designed to be a 9 inch saw so a 10 inch blade WOULD bog more often.
