Don'y know if alignment becomes more critical but any slight misalignment may cause a lot more vibration. Also he is using the SS nylon drive shaft but only extending the "reach" with the steel shaft. Longer shafts or a solid coupling without the SS nylon drive is something that I would stay from. I believe the SS drive absorbs some of the imherent vibration.

You are accurately reading between the lines, Bill. I was contemplating the issues that might arise if I used a longer, rigid coupling while not using the nylon coupler at all.
