Speaking of media sightings, you can see a Shopsmith in the TV show "Leave It To Beaver." Beaver's father owns one and you can spot it in certain episodes when they are in the garage.
And they sometimes even showed him using it to repair things that got broken around the house, while giving Beaver or his brother a fatherly lecture about life.

I've heard that but I don't recall ever seeing it... ah the things we miss. I guess I wasn't a big fan of the show so if I found anything else more watchable I'd do that. Had I know about the shopsmith I might have watched more.

A shopsmith 10ER was in an episode of NCIS. Gibbs goes into a pawn shop (where he sees the 10er (and buys it), the episode is where Gibbs meets his namesake "Leroy Jethro", his fathers former partner and best friend.
I believe I also saw a Greenie in an episode of Leave it to Beaver. Ward was in the garage doing something and there was a real fast screen pan that looked like a Greenie in the background.
