SS is and Excellent Band Saw

I use SS band saw with the old cast iron table, and the miter gauge with extension board like old school. I really like the Highlander WW WoodSlicer 1/2" resaw blade. After getting the new blade and carefully tuning my saw, I can cut veneer-thin sheets without a resaw guide, and with no appreciable drift. I just cut a .042" thick slice of pine. That's about 3/64". Light shows through it. It could have been thinner but I was in a hurry. The thickness varies no more than .003" anywhere on the slice, measured with a dial caliper. It resaws hard maple and oak just as well. I re-sawed a 1x4/10 stick of hard maple the same way and the thickness varied only a few thousanths--the blade never left the cut line. The SS blades work well too.

Fascinating report, mesae! Might be interested in one of those blades. Do you give all the credit to the blade? Was this a huge improvement over your old blades?

BTW, mesae, would you consider the vicinity of your home base? Some of the folks found forum members pretty close. Might be fun!
