Fantastic work, I can only hope that my future workbench will come close to the one you built.

Wow Dave, what a great job!

I guess there might be a use for the 20+ years of Woodsmith magazines I have stuffed away in boxes!

That's a beautiful bench. My workshop is in my basement and I don't have enough room for a wonderful bench like that. I build a small bench in my workshop. Mine folds down against the wall when I need more room, but it still serves my needs fairly well.
I'd love working on a bench like yours.

That is one fine bench. It should be a real pleasure to pursue your hobby on such a nice piece of furniture.

Looks Beautiful!

How did you keep the glued up top pieces even without a lot of planing or sanding after the glue job. It took me quite a while with fairly simple cutting boards. I can't imagine the job on something this massive.

Very nice indeed... Now I hope you can quickly get it scratched up and a few dings so that you can relax and work on it without always worrying about the first scratch. :)
I had a friend that always drove old clunkers. One year he bit the bullet and bought a brand new car. He said that the first 6 months were agony. He said that he about cried at the first scratch. The last I knew he was still swearing that he would never buy another new car.:)

I am doubting you will get an answer to this. His original picture post was done on 3/23/2009 and he only ever had 3 posts. I am doubting he will be back to say hi unfortunately. But you could always check the plans out he used from the magazine. It may tell you. :)

Hand planing would not take long to even it all out! BTW who said it was 'glued'?
