From all the documentation I can find and almost all of that came from Skip from the ER group, That is want started me on my ER's in fact I got my first ER from Skip. The E's were made first in 47 and maybe some in 48. IF you machine does not have a R stamped in front of the numbers then is is just a plain E. The factory took some of the E's and did some of the updates and then stamped the R in front of the numbers then it would have been made from 48 to some 49,

That would most likely be a 1948 model.

i also found a post saying some where that they sold 10k before xmas 47 so i know that i is around the fall of 47
