If the eBay statement is true, I'm going to part out my 500 out and start over!

My stop ring is very loose on the way tube. Being a newbie, I assumed the purpose of this rubbery part was to absorb some impact if I carelessly loosen the carriage in drill press mode...assuming I get my hand out of the way!

This what the stop ring I have looks like. It's supposed to protect the headstock and carriage, and also position the table so the a saw blade is repeatably positioned in the insert.
