Well like the rest of you who have already posted I am still here too. I wonder if the new website has anything to do with the lack of posts we normally see from new to Shopsmith users having questions. It is definitely a different route to get to the Forum under the Learning heading.

I thought i posted on this thread already but I don't see it.

Anyways- I've been wasting time on an electronics project..far afield from Woodworking...but it did require me to get this
super cool mini drill press. I'm drilling 0.5mm holes in metals, doin circuit board designs, trying to understand battery+wireless recharge tech..etc.

The forums have been pretty quiet-i agree..but there ain't that many posters to begin with. Has it all been said?

New folks tend to post a lot with 1000 questions (like myself a year ago) then it tapers off. My interpretation is that
there just ain't been any new folks. Read that as you will.

I may contribute a bit more in the coming few weeks... I just got shoved into "early retirement" today. Thanks, Scrooge!

I always enjoy reading this Forum.

I'll admit that I have used a bookmark for the forum for years, so whenever I begin to type the url I hit enter the moment the address if auto-populated, and since the site was updated the link returns an error. I always think "Oh yeah, that's right" then I click the link at the bottom of the page. If others are accustomed to using a saved bookmark I'm sure they are under the impression that the site is messed-up.

See if it works now. I added a redirect.

If not, please let me know what the link (URL) address it is using.

Thanks

I’ve noticed that links that don’t have “forum.shopsmith.com” don’t work and some of my older bookmarks don’t work. Links in older post on the forum don’t work. Some examples below.

They are literally dying from old age. This forum is used primarily by old folks now that don't want to change. Even though I am 72, I rarely look at this forum anymore. Statistically over 75% of people in all age groups are using Facebook Groups and Youtube primarily now. That is where I go.

According to a 2021 survey by Pew Research Center, 84% of adults aged 18 to 29 use social media sites, which is similar to the share of those aged 30 to 49 who say this (81%). By comparison, a somewhat smaller share of those aged 50 to 64 (73%) say they use social media sites, while fewer than half of those 65 and older (45%) report doing this1.
