That Mark I is a bit of a hybrid since they came with shorter Way Tubes than the Mark V. The one shown in the picture has the regular Mark V Way Tubes and as set up is a single function. The original configuration of the Mark I was more like a "Shop Deputy" set up having the 510/505 Main Table and Carraige and longer than the Shop Deputy Way Tubes. Do check out the Bench Mounts.

If we subtract the Mark I from the Mark V do we get the Mark 4? :D

Sorry we are getting a bit off topic. Everett may have the answer as to why they used the name "Mark" in the Hans Goldschmidt documents he has.
