Oops! Good catch.
I converted to CERAMIC Blocks not Cool Blocks.
BTW: I appreciate your comment on less vibration and smoother cuts with the Cast Iron table. I seem to recall when the transition to Aluminum came about, some people who upgraded were claiming that very thing. I have no proof though.
I had no 6" stock, so I tested the cut again with a slab of 4"x30" heartwood pine. The side of the board that would reference off the fence could have been improved with one pass over a jointer. It wasn't bad, but it could have been better. I got excessive vibration within the initial 3" of the cut. Then everything smoothed out. I attributed the vibration to the fact I had not planed the reference (fence) side of the board.
I made the 0.045" veneer cut 4" deep and measured thickness at 5 points along the top and 5 points along the bottom edge. All the thickness variations were +/- 0.005". To put that in perspective, a sheet of copy paper is about 0.004" thick. I believe I can do better if I would have machined the fence side of the board before resawing. Still variations less than 5 mils seem darn good to me.
