Yes it has been done. An enterprising individual was selling a set of parts on e-bay. NO I do NOT recommend it. The SS power switch is not rated to handle that extra current. It is funny how we are willing to spend all this time in setup mode to get everything in position and adjusted and then want to save time in startup mode to get to the cutting.
I use the remote. I guess I was lucky to have bought it when it was on sale. I am always amazed how well it works because my other experiences with remotes, my TV and garage door opener, don't really work that well. This remote works every time and does not need to be aimed in any direction at all.
I prefer to start the Mark V and then the dust collector a few seconds later simply to startup load on my circuit breaker. When I had 15 amp it used to trip all the time if I started both at the same time. I upgraded to 20 amp some years ago and perhaps starting both together would now work, but old habits never die. I start the Mark V, listen for it to get up to speed, and then I push the remote to start the dust collector.
