Jeff - even with all that's been said above - I consider it NORMAL!!! I find my sheaves "stick" or "hangup" a little when closed together. I think they have, since the unit was new from the factory!

This issue NEVER happens when the motor belt is on!:) The sheaves just don't close enough to allow this.

My issue with this is so minor, I haven't given it much thought. I can see that Bill Mayo's description would/could be a real problem.

P.S. EDIT - use a feeler gauge to see if it actually is the touching/rubbing of the closed sheaves, or - Is it the keyway that's a little plugged and the key is s little stuck in pushing the gunk through the end unused part of the keyway(s)?

Ok good thanks for the information. I was hoping someone was going to say it was normal and it is just the sheaves sticking when they are close together. Once they aren't meshed it moves very smoothly, I was thinking that maybe the belt would hold them apart enough.
