I must have not made it clear that the stop collars are used for alignment only and do not secure the posts to the bandsaw. When all alignment is complete the original setscrews securing the posts to the bandsaw must be tight. I use a dab of antiseize on the setscrews to eliminate any gall with the steel and aluminum. Recently I have started using a split steel shaft collar that I get from McMaster/Carr in place of the regular SS stop collars and this eliminates any setscrew marks on the posts. The pic that I posted was to show that plenty of stock is available in the bandsaw housing for the slightly over-sized 3/8-16 setscrew. The post setscrews must be present and kept tight to hold the alignment of the main saw housing. If you have found a way to use the shaft collars on the inside of the housing to assist in alignment post a pic of your setup

YEP, but it would be free to rotate. no problem with 'straight' tube, but with eccentric tube it would need to be positioned over the SS spt hole(while holding the BS with one hand. We won't mention off set mount!:rolleyes:

Dusty's solution was used. A pair of collars to hold the post in the Bandsaw casting.


The post seems to be secure and is held in position w/o interfering with the wheel or blade.

I did find out that a bigger wrench did not solve the problem. The Helicoil option was not practical after the 18" crescent wrench did its deed. My preference would have been a usable setscrew of the original size.

I can absolutely confirm that a setscrew siezed in this manner CAN NOT BE EXTRACTED, drilled out maybe.
