It is the Fence Rail on the Aluminum Table that the Tie Bar cannot clear while being raised into Drill Press position. I think Russ covered it well! However I must add to that. I do have them and I felt a need to modify them. Those connecting bars are too 'elastic'. I replaced them with 1/2"(7/16??) thick bars using longer screws. The OEM bars result in the bandsaw waving in the breeze so to speak.

Lastly by tilting the aluminum table sufficiently, clearance can be achieved.(so I have been told) Also orienting the offset to space the bandsaw outward is necessary.(I think) (Russ says so also!) (Good idea regardless of what SPT is being mounted) Can you tell I have not actually tried it?




An interesting anecdote regarding them. At the initial 'unveiling' of the aluminum table an observant onlooker asked: How do you raise the SS to vertical with the new bandsaw mounted? When the demonstrator attempted, he could not and exclaimed "I can't believe they missed this when they designed the new table"(paraphrased).

I would suspect that they are shipped unassembled, so 4 eccentric tubes and the hardware pack would constitute a 4 pack.

Agreed. And if it were indeed for 2 pair of assemblies, I would not spend the almost $70 on something for which I would not use 50% of it.

Right -- I upgraded my iron table to aluminum so that's why I was considering getting the newer offset posts and that's what initially prompted the email to them

I was wondering about that! They do look floppy!

Still makes no sense. If I were to order a coffee table that came unassembled (a top and 4 legs), that wouldn't be sold as a "5 pack"

I bought these back in September when they were on sale for $39.00. They came fully assembled, just like they look in the picture, but the information sheet shows as if everything is loose and how they would need to be assembled. I agree with JPG, the connecting bars are too thin, 1/4” I believe, and 1/2” would be better. I haven’t made that change yet. Would adding two 1/4” plates be sufficient? I have some of that.

It was JPG or another member saying that the bars are not strong enough, in a previous thread, to keep it from flexing some. It is another reason I have been hesitant to buy them. Adding a second 1/4" bar on each may provide enough additional strength, but that is only a guess on my part.

A second 1/4" bar wouldn't hurt.
