The rubber spider shown is the most expensive one, they make cheaper ones.

A complete coupler requires two bodies and one insert(spider).

Look up Lovejoy Couplings on Google for info on spider couplers. I have not found much use for them on the SS myself. I do salvage and repair the old 10ER couplers that were used to attach the old 10ER jigsaw. The old coupler was 1 and 13/16 inch in length. Pic is a repaired one using heavy reinforced radiator hose.

The tube length is something I DO NOT UNDERSTAND! The tubes should have been 52" and 52 3/4" in length. Cutting an equal amount off EACH one should have worked!
Whatever you decide for the length of your way tubes, just make sure the bench tubes are 3/4" longer.

Since I do not understand the need to cut the tubes a different amount, I measured a set of parts. I posted them in a new thread.

http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/showthr ... #post38873

It is still a puzzle to me WHY you needed to cut the tubes a different amount. The 26" spacer(s) should have been correct if the bench tubes were cut off by 22".

BTW it is Y'all not you'all. 'Down South' it is ONE syl a ble!:D
