You are right, I built the cabinet and used the cleat to hang it. It works well, and if you are working solo, it is a lot easier to hang and level the cleat that the whole cabinet!!

I built one as well, but left the smaller set of doors off. I do have enough plywood left over to build a smaller cabinet using the smaller doors.
