Before attempting to drive the pin 'through' verify the hole(in the casting) does indeed go 'all the way through'.
I built a shorty from parts on eBay. That pivot base does not have a roll pin. It has C clips on each end of the shaft on the inside of the pivot arm. Also the shaft is only 1/2".
If it is, I would sure appreciate a photo of the setup that uses NO ROLL PIN to secure the shaft.

Re: Base Reassembly(C) Hinge Pin
Thank you, John for the images (to make me a believer). I believe you said your machine is a 93/94 and mine is a couple years newer. So sometime in the mid to late nineties???

The pivot base on my dedicated drill press is from my original MK V that I bought new in 1994. I upgraded that machine to a double tilt Power Pro. That is the one that has the roll pin.dusty wrote:Thank you, John for the images (to make me a believer). I believe you said your machine is a 93/94 and mine is a couple years newer. The shorty has the pivot base without the roll pin. That base was obtained from eBay and I have no ides the year it was made. My guess that it is after 1994 sometime but when?
Anyone with a known original machine made after at least 1994 could check and maybe we can determine when the change was made.

Re: Base Reassembly(C) Hinge Pin
And I broke the bottom base part 518379 while driving the hinge pin out. Sent the wife to eBay to get a replacement. Love me a $100 Sunday evening oops. $39.99 for the part and $30 to ship. I guess it was still $30 cheaper than SS and $300 cheaper than a double tilt upgrade.
