I dumped IE and went to Firefox a couple of years ago and never looked back. Firefox is a much more stable and safe interface than IE can ever hope to be.

I'm using IE 8, and have not noticed any issues. I've been using it for awhile now.

I was one IE 8 and had to go back to 7. My problem was with my favorites, when I clicked favorites my cursor would go wild inside the drop down window. Backed off to Rel 7 and everything is fine again.

I also didn't like how rel 8 was handling new tabs, with 7 the tab is opened right next to the parent with 8 it is opened as the last window period. I use to tabs to read the forum. I open a new tab for each sub group and a new tab for each new thread. I can then read them and click the window closed. Once I get back to the main forum list I know I read everything.

To go back to Rel 7, just go to the control panel add/remove programs icon and click it and select IE8 from the list click remove and everything should be taken care of.

With Vista MIE 8 is not considered a program but rather an upgrade. I had to locate it an uninstall it from the upgrades. Hopefully everything will be back to normal now. I will try foxfire if it is not. That was my original intention but could not figure out how to dump the other MIE.

Using IE is akin to painting a target on your back, about every hacker and virus writer on the planet targets IE.
I have also used Opera, Safari and Google Chrome. Before I started using Firefox I also tested about 6 or 7 lesser known browsers most of which were a joke.
This desktop box came with Vista as did my current wide-screen laptop and I cuss Vista constantly. My wife's laptop came with XP as did my old laptop. I'm running three different versions of Linux on several other boxes and my old iMac is running OS-X. My shop boxes are still running Win-98 SE as are a couple of old laptops I use only for writing away from the house. I keep them for throwing in the trucks so I can go park on a hill or in a woods and write. If something happens to them there is no big loss. Viista is my least favorite but I have a lot of software that I need that dictates that I keep Windows runnable. I may set up the two Vista machines to dual boot Vista and Linux if I get a round tuit. BTW, Linux is free and is slowly becoming mainstream now being available on some new systems from the factory. My favorite Linux is Ubuntu...
When I get a new system I install Zone-Alarm as a firewall, AVG as an anti-virus, and Spybot Search & Destroy and Crap-Cleaner to keep things clean.

Note too, I have an add-on running on Firefox that makes all of the toolbars, scrollbars etc. appear as woodgrain.

No need to 'remove IE! Just add foxfire, and make it your 'default' browser.

I am taking Foxfire for a spin. So far it is a fast as Google Chrome and the good news is the PM system is accessible as it was with MIE7. I dumped MIE8 but it did not solve all the problems. I like the speed of Chrome but maybe just don't understand how to get the most out of it. So far it looks like Foxfire will be my new browser. I need something that is User Friendly!;)

I do knot work for Microsoft (they do knot have a gutter installation division:D ). I have been using IE8 since it first came out and have had no issues with the PM system or anything else. Just my 2 cents worth.
