speed control hard to turn

One other great advantage to keeping your machine oiled is to keep all the horsepower going to the blade. I was experiencing a situation where my SS would bog down when cutting through 3/4 inch material with a sharp blade. I stopped by the SS store (I live in Dayton) and was educated on oiling my machine. I guess it lets the variable pully move easier and gives better tension on the belt. In any case, SS sells a bottle of oil that comes with a flexible tube perhaps 8-9 inches long - just the thing you need to reach inside and deposit a few drops. After cleaning and oiling my machine, I had all the power I would ever want.

Any suggestions for us poor saps with older models -- no holes in the sleeve bearing and no access hole i.e. no removable SS logo?

Has anyone tried the oil called "Pro Gold Lubricant PG2000", they claim it wont attract sawdust so might be good for the Shopsmith and what about the speed control quadrant? I saw it at the WoodCraft store.
