Back in business!

I brought the whole works to my father's house to utilize his expertise and his SS (less runout than mine). I secured the drum between two scrap pieces clamped to the fence and clamped the drum to the fence as well. The new bit that came with the tap and a slow feed rate made easy work of drilling the hole. After tapping it, the set screw threaded in nicely and held it fast to the shaft. Now I finally get to try it out!

If you need to do this or similar again, a PILOT hole REALLY makes it easier(and more likely to be straight and not wandered off position).
