I had a similar landing on my one and only balloon flight. It was so windy they almost canceled the event and one group ended up getting pulled into a small lake.

The smiles you see in the profile pic weren't there minutes prior I assure you. We got dragged about a hundred yards through a VERY bumpy freshly tilled corn field. It was fun once we stopped but being the first time we rode, we didn't have any idea if we were in trouble or not.

I think they did the opposite beeg. They cracked open a bottle of "good bubbly" that they had tucked away in the back of the recovery van. We ended out staying at the landing site until well after dusk.

Good thing "minnied" isn't as observant as me. She thought it was a blast getting dragged on our side through the field. I was too focused on the pilot working like crazy trying and get the balloon deflated as quickly as possible by opening all the balloon vents as we were approaching a barbed wire fence at the end of the corn field. The fence was the last thing I remember seeing when we touched ground the first time. The pilot was doing all this while standing on the SIDE of the basket as we bounced through the field.

In hindsight.....good time.
