Well! Uh, Oh! In the last week or so, got an e-mail from Rockler announcing a contest that offered a trip to the New Yankee Workshop as the main prize. Wonder if they will still be able to offer that?

What a bummer! I could watch him all day long. He'll be missed.

I think this is just another sign of the times. My guess is funding is drying up quick and sponsors are tightening their belts.

Personally I think everyone has the mistaken idea that people interested in subjects will seek it out on the internet. I think they forget about the ton of people that were channel surfing, saw Norm and said I could do that and went out bought the equipment to try.

Sure they can stumble upon Norm on the internet but what are the chances? No where near as good as them finding Norm on the TV.

I was actually surprized Norm lasted through the Black and Decker purchase of Delta/Porter Cable, so in that sense I have been expecting this for some time.

It is possible that Norm had a contract which protected him.

Now most of the wood shows are gone. Most of the ones I watch are gone. Router workshop, Norm, etc. Does anyone know of any that are left that are good to watch? Would love to find more and who is carrying them
Thanks

Like the farmer already mentioned, I enjoy Roy Underhill. Hopefully you can find him in your area.

The two shows mention along with a local woodturning show and the American woodshop is all that is left here. Yes Roy is fun to watch to see what can be done with little to no tools. I love him showing the old simple tools and what a craftsman can build with them.

I for one propose a new show called "The Sawdust Sessions" hosted by Nick Engler. It could be billed as Woodworking back to basics featuring the worlds only Five in One Tool from Shopsmith. fjimp
