Does the plans specify a certain kind of wood? I know why you used cherry, but why aspen and oak?

Mike,
The choice of wood is up to the builder. I used oak, aspen, and basswood only because that is what I had in the shop from other projects.
The oak is from three plant stands I finished a few weeks ago, and I always have basswood instock for carvings.
I just ordered planes for a 1934 Chevy coupe, that I am planing on building as a chopped top hot rod made of walnut.
