You should get three results. Strangely, all three starterdby Ed in Tampa.

One is General Woodworking/Main Table Ribbing.

Yeah, I had just gotten my dial indicator gauge and was becoming a precision freak. Frankly I found that having set up my machine according to Shopsmith directions I had it as close as I was going to get it. However the tips from Nick on the trunion spacing did help.

And can I help it if I like the look of the new table without all the ribs. However I'm still sold on the premise that the ribs make the wood slide easier. Yes I know physics and all of that surface and weight distribution but I'm happy in my world.

I think this thread is about done so I'm going to take one last shot even though it's a change in subject.

What are you talking about, a table with no ribs? Does Shopsmith now produce a smooth table; extensions too? I'm sorry, I think I'll keep my old 510.

No the table is completely smooth only the area between the mitre gauge slots. Someone said the old casting mold wore out and for some reason they didn't put all the grooves in the new casting. I suspect it was done of one of two reasons or both. One without the ribbings the table is probably less likely to dimple there. I had two table tops both of which has low spots by the table insert. The second reason I bet it is cheaper to mold it with out the ribs.
