retcaptb wrote:Well I took the plunge tonight. I purchased this Sawsmith 2000. It had not been used much. It had the origional documents. It's build date was 081993. I looked it over for problems. The only two things were 1.) a broken angle adjustment lever lock. It is made from a bake-lite material. I will either have a machine shop make a aluminum one or check with Shopsmith Customer Service tomorrow. I checked online parts and it lists that Shopsmith has the part in stock. We will see. 2.) The Excalibur Fence and rails were missing. After asking the owners about it, I found that they had mounted it onto a Jet tablesaw. When asked about selling it, the owner said he would trade for a Bessimyre? fence to replace it. I now have to look into that if I want the origional fence system. Overall great shape and happy to have it. Thanks again for all of the replys on this machine.

Hi Jim,
Check this outfor your Biesemeyer fence. It looks like they are owned by B&D now. They used to make GOOD quality fences. If B&D own them, changes could have been made. (Black and Decker owns Delta and Porter Cable)

Did you find a fence for the Sawsmith 2000? I was surfing the net and found several aftermarket fences that look like they would fit it. Peachtree woodworking has the EZ fence system, Rockler has the Vega fence system, and Grizzly has a couple of Shop Fox fences (check out the G9220), and Mulecab.com has the Accusquare rip fence system.
I have the standard model SawSmith 2000.
Hello everyone,
Thanks for all of the replys. I found a new Delta T2-30 fence that I bought on ebay for 70.00. It was only the fence. I checked on the rails and tube from Delta parts. They want gold for them. The 50" tube is 189.00. The front rail 108.00 and the rear rail was 89.00. I could have a whole new system for what they want for this. So I did some checking. The square tube and L shape rails can be bought at a metal supply for a fraction of what Delta wants. I can get them powder coated for 50.00 locally. Rough total about 100.00 for everything.
I did look at a lot of the fences that you mentioned in the previous posts. If I hadn't found this, I think that the Accusquare looked good, Made in Canada I think. Overall a lot of good products. The Biesemeyer fence is owned by Delta who is now owned by B&D. Still looks OK. but expensive. Thanks for the replys. After I get the system up and running I will post pictures for you.
