Assure you that the original Johnson paste wax works for sure on waxing the tubes over and over and buffing after each application will keep the power head sliding freely I don't care if you are doing this to your ER's or MKV's it works never a build up. Just got me another can just for later at westlake Ace hardware just yesterday. Not as easy to find as it us to be.
On the ER head, I had to take mine totally apart, clean all the parts and then re assembly it now it is fine. I did not wax the locking wedges just the tubes. The locking wedges had old sawdust and oil build up from years of use and just needed cleaning.

For what its worth I have waxed the SS with Johnson wax for about 6 years. No issues with build up.

Yellow can, red stripe, The Original Formula(make sure those exact words are on the red stripe. UPC code is 46500 00202. Got my last can at Home Depot(Not in the paint Dept.!)
In the Army we used to light the wax on fire and drip it on the floor. Then we would buff it evenly. After some time we would have to strip it and start over. But After all the endorsements, I quess I know what I have to do.

The design of Yahoo Groups makes it hard to search older posts for the info you want. A forum such as this one is a lot easier (but still has its problems). After searching for a few minutes on the Yahoo group, if you haven't found your answer, just post a question.
