You might say that our island is the best wired place in the house.. A prior owner that remodeled the kitchen ~20 years ago ran some 6 or 8 gauge wire to the island to power a very hungry induction cooktop and downdraft vent system.. The induction cooktop was very power hungry. We've since removed that (and the entire old cabinet) and replaced it.. The new cabinet is still wired with several outlets and whatnot.. I even used the power outlets in that cabinet to power a welding machine once as it had more oomph than our other regular outlets..

I've played with more than a few cabinets. Both installing and removing them. Base cabinets tend not to need a whole lot to secure them. As such, and as noted by others, most were just secured at the upper back, before the counter top went on. Anything more than that would be overkill. If you need more secure cabinets than that, you probably have bigger problems

Hello. Saw this pop up again. I like some of the advice. Didn't know about the code for Washington. Planned on running electrical to anyways. I was also thinking about tapping into the plumbing for a small sink, but might not. It could be a little much.
