You might say that our island is the best wired place in the house.. A prior owner that remodeled the kitchen ~20 years ago ran some 6 or 8 gauge wire to the island to power a very hungry induction cooktop and downdraft vent system.. The induction cooktop was very power hungry. We've since removed that (and the entire old cabinet) and replaced it.. The new cabinet is still wired with several outlets and whatnot.. I even used the power outlets in that cabinet to power a welding machine once as it had more oomph than our other regular outlets..billmayo wrote:You may want to route an electric wire to the location of the island and put several outlets on the island as an extension cord to anything on the island is a disaster waiting to happen.
